The Big House

The producers of the critically acclaimed series The Tenements, Big Mountain Productions, are delighted to announce that production has started on a new four part series for TV3 ‘The Big House’. With support from the BAI, the four part series will tell the story of the women and men who worked in The Big House in Ireland – The Servants Story.  

Ireland was well endowed with big houses and Big Mountain Productions are delighted to team up with Strokestown House in Roscommon and the Centre for the Study of Historic Irish Houses and Estates to produce this eagerly anticipated account of one of the most controversial and interesting periods in Irish history – the golden era of landed class in the 18th century to the gradual decline in the early 20th century.
