Following on from the phenomenal success of the first season in Newry's Town Hall the second season of Opry an Iúir returns this year bigger and better than before. Our season one hosts, Marc Roberts and Lynette Faye, are joined by the King of Country music - Daniel O'Donnell. Daniel has, of course, himself recently celebrated a fantastic 30 years in the music industry with a special show in Derry's Millennium Forum. This series sees our hosts meet and greet some of the biggest stars in country music here in Ireland and the US in the intimate setting of the Old Town Hall in Newry.

From rising stars such as Derek Ryan and Robert Mizzell to the greatest acts in the business Jimmy Buckley and Susan McCann to favorites Billy Yates and Mary Duff, the show has it all.  Marc Roberts gives each star a helping hand as they prepare to perform a one off duet in Irish with a special guest. Back stage, Lynette Fay chats with ‘superfans’ and celebrity fans of each artist.

Recorded in front of a live audience, mixing archive, testimonials from fans and chat, the stars perform country favourites.  Along with great performances we get rare glimpses into the home lives of our stars:  From Jimmy Buckley out on the road with his Harley Davidson to Derek Ryan composing a new song in his studio and indeed Billy Yates living the dream in his converted chicken barn in Nashville!

Opry an Iúir brings the essence of Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry to Newry.
